Sewing Project #1 - Accent Pillows

The first project I decided to do was accent pillows for Allie's bed.  Her room is becoming mostly white, tans, and some accent pinks and turquoise.

I made these pillows out of my bridesmaid linen skirt from my sister's wedding.  I had only worn it once since July 2008, so I decided I should probably get rid of it or use it for something else.

Here is a pic of the skirt: (I'm the one holding the baby)

And here is the pic of the skirt, revisited:

I used some pom pom fringe I had picked up at my local thrift store, which came in this ginormous bag of lace for $2 :)

Doesn't it make you want one of these?

Or to do this to one of your chairs?

Too bad I don't have more of it...

Remember, I still have 2 more projects to finish...so stay tuned :)

Hey, what pretty pillows you made! And I love that you re-used your skirt fabric. Way to think outside the box! Thanks for linkin' up to Frugalicious Friday! Oh, and I followed too. :)

Thanks for visiting my blog. You are a crafty young woman. Love the chair! I read about your daughter loving horses and would like to suggest the Dreamworks movie "Spirit". It is about a young horse and his adventures. There is almost no human talking. Great movie. Good luck.

Very nice redo. You are lucky you had a linen dress, and such a pretty blue!

Your pillows are very pretty. I love it that you recycled your bridesmaid skirt. I always like things to be recycled versus landing in a land fill or hanging in a closet and never worn again.

Love the pillows! We should have a "What can you do with bridesmaids clothes" party. Ha ha ha.. Everyone must have a skirt or dress that they've only worn once or twice. Great idea. I love the tassley thingies.

Great idea! It's nice that you were able to make something that you can use and will remind you of the day. Great trim too!

Your sister chose a pretty shade of blue for her wedding party. And you have quite the talent turning your skirt into pillows.

Hi Jessica!
Cute and recycled, I love it!
Totally, that's what I did with a $3 ikat tank top from Marshall's... http://adventuresindressmaking.blogspot.com/2010/02/recycling-tank-into-trendy-ikat-pillow.html
Wish it were real ikat, it's just printed...
