A Sick Story

I have to admit that pretty much all of my posts last week were scheduled the week before...my family came to visit starting the 4th of July weekend through this last weekend.  If you would like to see some of the pics I took over the week you can stop by my photoblog.

Unfortunately during the week my little sister, Allie, and I got the flu.  Yuck.  Allie has never been more sick than having a little cold. Don't ask me how we have managed that for over 2 years, I have no idea.  So, this was a new experience for Trey and I.  I think I ended up cleaning every square inch of the carpet in our living room.  I did about 10 loads of laundry in a couple days time and also had to clean the couch quite a few times.

GROSS DETAILS FOLLOWING:
At one point Allie had "stuff" coming out of both ends and no diaper and was standing on the carpet...that was interesting :P  However, Trey and I were feeling okay (I wasn't sick yet) and it was so ridiculous we were practically laughing.

So, I hope you will understand why I have been a little absent from blogland.

On another note, I still have 2 giveaways going on right now so make sure you stop by and enter them!  Who doesn't love free stuff?

Ouch

The other day I did this to myself by being dumb and not wearing sunscreen:

Okay, so you can't tell how pink I am, but I was pretty pink...even more than the shirt I am wearing in this picture.

So I decided I needed to start looking for some good sunscreen for my face.  I like Banana Boat for the rest of my body because it smells so good.  But, I have to be careful about what I put on my face.

I can't wear a lot of makeup because my skin breaks out pretty easily.  So, wearing sunscreen on my face is like just asking for some bad skin.  Luckily, I was given the chance to review some new sunscreen from Neutrogena called UltraSheer Liquid Daily Sunblock.  I got to try the SPF 70.

Here were my first impressions of this sunscreen:

1. It smelled good.  I don't like the smell of many sunscreens (hence the using Banana Boat for the smell alone)  It smelled a little like flowers...not sure what kind, but I liked it.

2. It went on like a lighter sunscreen.  Not super light, but not really thick like most sunscreens.

3. Once it soaked into my skin it felt light and like regular lotion for your face.  Definitely not like an SPF 70 sunscreen.  It was crazy!

4. It didn't seem to make any difference on my skin throughout the day.  My skin didn't get any oilier than it usually does.  I totally was expecting it to but it didn't.

5.  It hasn't made me break out at all!  This is probably the most important thing to me.

Right now there is a coupon for $2 off here.

I will update you later on when I have used it more to whether or not I still love it!

Confessions at THAT Time of the Month

This morning I woke up and decided to wear my warm-ups all day because jeans sounded awful.

I ate 2 cookies for breakfast because I was starving and nothing else sounded good.

I put on my makeup and did my hair right away because I knew if I waited any longer it wouldn't happen today.

All I have wanted to do today is lay in bed or on the couch and watch the t.v. shows I have recorded...Mercy, Vampire Diaries, like 5 American Idols that I haven't cared enough to watch yet...

All I want to eat is brownies and ice cream or cookies...maybe I'll make a frozen pizza for lunch.  Freschetta Canadian Bacon & Pineapple...mmmm

That diet I started a couple weeks ago...yeah its not happening today.  Either is pilates.  Or all those sewing projects I want/need to do before summer gets here...

Summer sounds so nice right now.  We went down to St. George this weekend and it was summer there (I scheduled my posts for the weekend if you are wondering how that worked.)

Why is is not summer here yet?  I thought it started getting warm in May...its 50 degrees today and the wind is freezing.

I still need to go to the grocery store and get quarters to do laundry, but my bed feels so good right now...

Please Don't Judge Me

Because I can't wait for the new season of the Bachelorette to start...

She was my favorite:

And this made me sad:

I think I even shed a tear or two.

I blame that on motherhood, and my mom (I love you Mom.)

But, I think she can do better than him...he was too girly for her.  She needs a real man.

Hahaha I am talking like she is my friend and I know her or something.

I know I don't, and that a lot of the show may be fake...who really knows?

But, I am still excited.

This is one confession I will make on my blog...I am sure there will be more to come.  :)

A Valentine's Wish

Thanks to all of you for your nice comments for my post yesterday. Today was not better, but there is always tomorrow, right?

I think what I REALLY REALLY need is just a couple hours that me and my husband can feel like this couple again...
REALLY...I mean the last time we had a date was during Christmas...

I just can't ask anyone to babysit. I hate asking for favors.

So, maybe a miracle will happen and Allie will give us 2 seconds of alone time on Valentine's Day...

2 seconds without messy diapers or crying or whining or being a human jungle gym...

That isn't too much to ask for Valentine's Day, is it?

What are all of your plans for the holiday?

Confessions of a Tired Mom

It's really not very often that I get tired and frustrated being a mom of an almost-two-year-old.

Most of the time I feel lucky and blessed to have such a sweet little girl in my life, of whom I am totally and completely in love with...

Most of the time I get enough sleep and enough "me time" and have enough energy to deal with the little tantrums and lots of little messes, and even the big ones.

But, tonight, I am tired and frustrated.

See, I changed some things today...I didn't give her ANY candy. Only healthy food besides the pineapple...

And today I didn't clean up every little mess right after she made it...I cleaned once during the day and that's all so I would have more time for her and other more important things.

I even called the doctor to make sure she was current on all of her shots and kept her bum extra dry to keep that rash away...

Yet tonight I have a messy apartment, a girl that is hyper beyond belief, and a rash that is starting to show on her baby bum.

So maybe I need to learn from this...

...that a clean house is important to me and, if nothing else, it makes me feel like I am in control of my life - that I can handle my "mom duties."

...that you can't always control how healthy your child is (or at least some aspects of your child's health)

...that (as my husband said) "some kids are just hyper"

...that not every day of motherhood can be perfect, but one bad day is okay once in a while...

...especially when you have this to show for it.
